Main Bathroom

Here are some pictures of the Main Bathroom of my house. After taking these photo's, I'm well aware that the room needs some COLOR (and the poor lighting doesn't help much either). So I'm now trying to decide what color to go with, which is difficult because I like to switch out the shower curtain often. But in the mean time I thought I'd let you all in, to see what it looks like at the moment.

I bought this little carved tray at a flea market. Most of it is covered up right now. But it's really cool and would even look neat hanging on the wall.

I've hung my little collection of Seashell necklaces by a large stick above the mirror. Is it Cool or Strange? I'm still deciding if I like it or not.

The Lighthouse photos where taken on a trip to the Oregon Coast. I had Jake make me the frame by using some left over shelves from a old bookshelf. Then we added some rusty old hardware and painted it white.

A full View of the room. I painted the Ugly standard bathroom cabinets white. A easy fix when your on a budget.

And by leaving off the door, It makes the cabinet seen not so enormous.

My Awesome new hand soap, given to me by the coolest uncle in the world. Trace owns a store in Salt Lake, called Backyard Birds. It's full of fun stuff. So if your ever in the area you need to stop in.

Snow Ball Bush

I have a beautiful Snow Ball bush on the side of my house. These little pom poms of tiny white flowers make me Smile every year. The bush is starting to hang over and it's creating this lovely archway, as you can see in the second photo. Also check out my neighbor's old blue truck.
I love it!

Another Mantel Display

I'm ALWAYS Changing up my fireplace mantel display. I think because it is such a focal point in the house, and I'm always having to stare right at it. So it's just nice to have something new to look at every once in a while.

The Painting is another {Uncle Trace is downsizing, therefore I'm scoring on all of his cool stuff}

I recovered my papasan chair..... With the curtain that use to be hanging in the window. Whatever works, Right?

Or I guess I should say Abby's Papasan chair.

Coconut Rice and Banana Coconut Cookies

My Favorite Go-To Ingredients are Coconut and Golden Raisins. I put them in Everything from Salads, Rice, Cookies, Oatmeal, Muffins to sometimes even eggs. They make everything taste Sweeter. You should give it a try.

Chewy Crispy Coconut Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 cup crushed cornflakes cereal

1 cup rolled oats

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup flaked coconut

1 cup chocolate chips

1/4 cup golden raisins

1/2 cup banana (one banana)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Stir in the egg, vanilla and banana. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder, stir into the creamed mixture. Add the oatmeal, crushed cereal, coconut, raisins and chocolate chips and mix until combined.

  3. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. cookies should be about 3 inches apart. Bake for 12 minutes. until light brown.

Makes 3 dozen

Note: there is soo much going on in these cookies that if you don't have one of the ingredients, Don't worry about it. I think the original recipe didn't have the banana, chocolate chips or raisins in them. I just make the recipe up as I go along. I think they would also be great with nuts or sunflower seeds.

Coconut Rice

This Recipe is Soo easy. Here are the Ingredient's you will need.

Use the measurements on the box of the Minute Rice to decide how many servings you will need. Combine rice but instead of adding Water, add the coconut milk. (although you will probably need to add a little water to make up the difference) Cook by using the instructions on the box.

{ I actually prefer using the microwave, I think it makes my rice fluffier.}

In the mean time, Toast sweeten coconut in frying pan. (You'll need about 1/4 cup of coconut for each serving).

Top Rice with Toasted Coconut, Pineapple Chunks, Golden Raisins, Salt and Pepper.

We served the rice up, along with some Orange Chicken.

(I'd give you the Orange Chicken recipe but it was just Panda Express Orange Chicken Sauce we found at Cosco. That we fried up with some chicken)

Another Floral Arrangement

The problem with cut flowers, is that they don't last long. But I try to hold on to mine for as long as I can. It's not everyday I get flowers, you know. After removing all the wilted flowers from my arrangement, I give what's left, a fresh new look. Here I've arranged them individually.

Also, I wanted to share with you, my new sheets that I bought over the weekend. I'm pretty sure they were Made in Heaven!
They are 100% Cotton Percale Ultra-Soft.
I found them at Kohl's. Normally 75.00 But they were on sale, plus I had a gift card and a 10 dollar off coupon. so I picked these baby's up for 12.00. But they are worth the 75.00 dollars.

Garden Bouquet Makeover

I'm a girl who loves Flowers. ALL of them.
So you can understand how excited I was to answer my front door to a delivery man, holding this huge Bouquet of beautiful garden flowers. There was foxgloves, lillies, carnations, and heather. At first I figured they were from my wonderful husband, who has been soo busy at work, letting me know he misses and appreciates me..... But they weren't. They were from the Bad guys, his clients. Thanking me for being supportive of my husband during this busy time. So I guess there not so bad after all.
So Sweet, But look at this mountain of flowers. It looks like something you would find at a funeral. So I couldn't wait to get my hands on it to dissect it.

I took out all the pink and orange flowers and grouped them in a mason jar.

I'm pretty sure this is Heather. Doesn't it look so much more cute and cottagey in the tin?

I even kept the green "fillers"

Added some to the Kitchen table.

So now I have cute small bouquet's throughout my home, That make me smile.

So Remember, the next time you receive an Over designed bouquet or even a group of flowers from your local florist or even your own garden. Create your own floral designs, scatter them through out your home. and Let them freshen your home and give you a little smile during your day.

Jax's Room

Meet Jaxon

Jax is 1.5 He is my little Giggle Monster. Jax loves Playing with his big brother Liam. He enjoys going to the park, slides and sandboxes, Balls, Bathtime and Lullabys.
This is Jax's Room.

I painted the 08 because Jax was born on the 8th of 2008 so I figure it must be his Lucky number. Plus I thought it made the room feel Sporty.

I painted a old dresser white and hung up some old licence plates that I found in the garage. I'm all about re-using what you already own.

I made this Home Made mobile, by using a wire hanger, rope, paper and drift wood.

A comfy old chair used for Story Time.

Bye Bye

Liam's Room

Meet Liam

Liam is 4 years old. He's Smart, Playful and Funny. He Loves riding his bike, playing with friends, golf, video games, Lego's and drawing. He also has a thing for Tanks, Sprinklers and Superheros. This is Liam's Room.

Liam's Dad painted this awesome Spider-man on his wall.

The room came with built in shelves, which are perfect for storing Toys.

I recently bought and painted the little side table.. I plan to blog about it and the other "junk" items I picked up, in a later post.

I made the blanket and pillow.

Liam's Daddy also put together this collage of comic book covers. They both like Super Heros.

And a few Hooks behind the door for Jackets.

Mothers Day in the Spring Time

I had a absolutely lovely Mothers Day, yesterday. My two little guys spoil me rotten every day. I'm happy to be their mama.

While we were playing in the backyard, I couldn't help but breath in the beautiful smell of my lilacs. I anticipate them coming every spring. I just wish they would last through out the summer.

Come On In

The Entry way is the first impression people get when they walk into your home. What does yours say about you? I'm trying to create a space (which for me, is more of a walkway) that says Welcome to my world, come on in, Hangout and Relax.

Like I said, No surprise. I've changed it up already. First I re-painted the blue door. It use to be allot blue-er and so I just wanted to tone it down a little bit. Now its a more calm blue.

Then I painted a mirror, white of course. and hung a piece of molding, that I added some little silver hooks to.

The Entry way needs to be functional. I'm usually walking in the door with both arms full, ready to unload.

The little white stool, works great as a little table, since I don't have room for any larger pieces of furniture.

If you haven't noticed, I have a love for wicker bags.

And in case you were wondering if I made it to the Library @ 1:00 (noted on black board) I Did. and look what I found....

The Library was having a book sale. I picked up these reader digest books. Not for the great stories inside, but look at how cute the covers are.

I'm not sure where they will end up. But for now I have them on my little desk.

And Lastly, I thought I'd end with a few of my favorite Entry ways.

Pottery Barn

These last 2 are from some of the many blogs I look at. I think the top is from lime in the coconut. I'll post the second when I come across it again.

I actually did have a few more pictures. But I'm new to this blogging stuff and some how they disappeared. Better Luck Next Time.
