Snow Ball Bush

I have a beautiful Snow Ball bush on the side of my house. These little pom poms of tiny white flowers make me Smile every year. The bush is starting to hang over and it's creating this lovely archway, as you can see in the second photo. Also check out my neighbor's old blue truck.
I love it!

Chewy, Crispy, Banana Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

My Favorite Go-To Ingredients are Coconut and Golden Raisins.
I put them in Everything from Salads, Rice, Cookies, Oatmeal, Muffins to sometimes even eggs. They make everything taste Sweeter. You should give it a try.

Chewy Crispy Banana Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup crushed cornflakes cereal
1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup banana (one banana)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Stir in the egg, vanilla and banana. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder, stir into the creamed mixture. Add the oatmeal, crushed cereal, coconut, raisins and chocolate chips and mix until combined.

  3. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. cookies should be about 3 inches apart. Bake for 12 minutes. until light brown.
Makes 3 dozen

Note: there is so much going on in these cookies that if you don't have one of the ingredients, Don't worry about it. I think the original recipe didn't have the banana, chocolate chips or raisins in them. I just make the recipe up as I go along. I think they would also be great with nuts or sunflower seeds.

Jax's Room

Meet Jaxon

Jax is 1 &1/2. He's my little Giggle Monster. Jax loves playing with his big brother, Liam. He enjoys going to the park, slides and sandboxes, balls, bath time and llullaby's.
This is Jax's Room:

I painted the 08 because Jax was born on the 8th of 2008 so I figure it must be his Lucky number. Plus I thought it made the room feel Sporty.

I painted an old dresser white. Then I hung some old licence plates, that I found in the garage, above it.

I made this whimsical mobile, by using a wire hanger, rope, paper alligators and some drift wood.

A comfy old chair is used for Story Time.

Thanks for stopping by,
Emily & Jax
Bye-Bye!

Mothers Day in the Spring Time

I had an absolutely lovely Mothers Day yesterday. My two little guys spoil me rotten every day. I'm so happy to be their momma.

While we were playing out in the backyard, I couldn't help but breath in the beautiful smell of my lilacs. I anticipate them coming every spring. They are so beautiful. My only wish is for them to last throughout the summer.

Emily

Come On In

The Entry way needs to be functional.  I'm usually walking in the door with both arms full, ready to unload.

I created wall hooks by simply adding some inexpensive hooks onto a piece of molding.
It's the perfect place to hang up your bags, sweater, keys, etc..

Above the hooks, I've  hung up a mirror that I recently painted white.  Then I have tucked a few favorite picture into it.

The
little white stool works great as a entry table, since I don't have  much room for anything larger.

It this last picture, I have changed things up just a little.
I switched out the wicker bags for a white one.  Then switched out the stool for a basket full of random things like some beach mats and a wooden stick.
I like the more calming look of it.

Emily

Island Style Living Room

I like to decorate my home in an Island / tropical style, even though I live no where near the ocean.
It's fun to pretend!

In the entry way I've hung up my seashell mirror, a straw bag, a green sun hat and a bunch of vacation photos.

I covered my couch in a bunch of mix-matched pillows, including some tropical pattern ones.

One side of the room is fun and colorful, but the other side is pretty boring.

I'm working on bring in some more color,  I'm thinking I need some fun colorful curtains.

This desk was a freebie from a neighbor, which I painted white and added on some wicker knobs.
I made the bulletin board by painting an old frame white and just popping in a perfect sized bulletin board.

I love my wooden bowl full of pictures.

There is a story behind this marlin. It along with most of the cool stuff in my house came from Uncle Trace. He had what I call a mansion, but sold it to live in a smaller home in the mountains. Therefore I totally scored on everything he didn't have room for. Anyway, the nose on the marlin had busted off and Trace had it set aside to glue back on. Well you see, one day I was helping him clean up and threw away this stick thing I found. So now the poor fishy has no nose, and nobody will let me ever forget why.

After seeing this photo I really really want to paint the marlin white, but Jake won't let me. I forgot to mention Uncle Trace caught the fish.. So its kinda special. But I'm not giving up. One day that marlin WILL be white. Besides I don't know what the big deal is. It's already missing its nose.
