I've been seeing a lot of stenciling on wicker lately and think it looks really neat. I've seen numbers, stripes and writing. You can see some examples of what I'm talking about on my pin board titled,
It seemed simple enough, so I decided to give it a try.
I started with an old basket I had. As you can see it's even missing one of it's handles... I'm guessing it's in my boy's toy box somewhere, since it resembles some sort of sword or weapon.
I got these stencils at Hobby Lobby a while back, and as you can tell they have gotten a craft load of use.
I painted on the stencil using a sponge brush. It worked great and I was able to get down into all of the the cracks with it. I used a dark brown paint but I've seen this done in black, white and blue. I'm sure it would look great in any color really.
I'm sure I'll now be painting more of my wicker baskets.
