Happy April!
I have a fun little project to show you today. I call it,
Book page Bottles.
Last summer,
I came up with a brilliant way to paint bottles.
I took a large tree branch, placed it in a pot full of rocks, hung the bottles onto the branches, and then spray painted them. It worked great and I was able to get all angles of the bottles covered.
You may remember, I then put spider stickers on them and used them as my Halloween decorations, as seen here.
After Halloween I had just stored them away.
It wasn't until after the first day of my Flea Market booth that I dug them back out. I decided that I needed to make some more product to sell.
This idea just came to me and I was able to whip them up really quickly and even sold a few the next day.
Here are the steps to make them.
Step 1. Find an image on line and print it out. You want to find a picture that has a nice silhouette. I think this is a
5 X 7 but you just need it to fit what ever size bottle you have.
Step 2. Find an old book that you don't plan to ever read again, and rip a page out. Cut around your printed image and place onto the book page.
Note: You may want to scan the page first to make sure that the content is good. . . . as you see here, I did not do this and now my pretty little flower bottle says, "Hitler" on it. Not Good.
Step 3. Carefully cut the image out, while pinching the image and the book page together.
Step 4. Once you have your image cut out onto the book page, you are going to Mod podge it onto the bottle using a small paint brush.
.
First, spread the Mod podge onto the back side of the image. Place onto the bottle. Second, Mod podge over the top of your image to seal it. The Mod podge dried clear and you should now have a pretty little book page bottle.
I made butterflies, birds, and flowers because I was thinking Spring, but you could do any image you want.
Thanks for stopping by.

Love these so much. I do lots of things with bottles, buttons and book pages, but I love your take on it.

Those are really cute! I like that they're neutral but still springy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Suzanne neutral but springy and could go anywhere to make a great grouping! Really neat!
ReplyDeleteTheses are so gorgeous! How clever. xx
ReplyDeleteHey Emily,
ReplyDeleteI happened across your blog soon after Grandma died. It's fun checking in to see your projects and I just LOVE these bottles. I was at the store today and picked up a cheap glass bottle so I could give it a try. The bottle is outside drying right now perched on a sad dead tree limb in my backyard. I sell handmade items at a local boutique and think this would be the perfect addition to my display. Thanks for the inspiration!
