Weekend Finds & Collections

I have unintentionally started a Vintage Camera Collection.
I first received the small black brownie camera from my mother in law a while back.  Then as you may remember, I dug the black Polaroid camera out of a "free" junk pile that I had just wondered upon. And then last weekend I picked up this Kodak Brownie movie camera from the neighbors yard sale, equipped with lenses and a camera bag.
I really wish I knew more about cameras, because I'm pretty sure they all still work.

At the neighbors yard sale, I also picked up this adorable picnic basket.

It has a fun blue and white gingham liner as well as a matching table cloth.

I have also unintentionally started a collection of  Picnic baskets. I believe I have around 6 or 7 now.
I love Picnic baskets, not only for the obvious use of storing food at a picnic, but also for additional storage around my home.

I have displayed my new finds on the shelf in my entry way.

So what collections have you all started?

My September Mantel

Happy 2nd Day of Fall!

As much as I do love Fall, it's always hard for me to say good bye to Summer.
I love Sunny days, and sometime it feels like forever before Summer comes back around.... but it always does,  right?
So I decided it was time to take down my summer mantel decor.  And then I wasn't quite ready to get out all of the Halloween decorations just yet, so I thought I would just do something really simple.
I started by hanging up a map of Boise.

Then I brought in my chalkboard, where I have attempted to draw the shape of Idaho onto it.

I layered my chair with a plaid blanket and pillow and a sweet, little, sleeping, pug dog.

Every thing else has been left the same as before.

A view from across the room.

I like the change,  even though it will be covered in spider webs and pumpkins in no time at all.

How about you all,  Are you excited it's now Fall?

Fall Indoor Picnic

When I heard that The Lettered Cottage was having a Fall Table Decorating Ideas Link Party (that's a mouth full)  I wanted to join in on the fun.
And you can too,  just link up your cute table decor pictures at The Lettered Cottage,  or if you are just looking for some new ideas click on the picture below.

For my fall table I thought it would be fun to have an indoor picnic.
So I started by using a plaid throw blanket as a table cloth.

Then I added layers of dishes,  a picnic basket with wine and cheeses, and then a few green apples scattered around.

I also brought in one of my chalkboards to write down tonight's menu.... Well kinda...
I Am going to be making Indian soup, but the apple pie is just a teaser.  I needed something to write to fill in the extra space...
I know,  Apple pie sure sounds good.
But my Indian soup has apples in it, along with chicken, carrots and celery.

I think the kids will get a kick out of having an indoor picnic.
And maybe I'll share my Indian soup recipe with ya tomorrow.

Thank you for stopping by,

Blackberry Pie

When Jake and I were just dating he baked me a Peach Pie,  and lets just say I was so impressed that I married him.
To this day, Jake can still bake one hell of a delicious pie.

In my last post I shared my families trip to an apple orchard, but not only did we pick apples, we also picked a bucket full of the largest, juiciest blackberries I had ever seen.
And for every blackberry I picked for the bucket, I think I matched by picking one to eat.
They were so mouth watering delicious.

When we got home, Jake baked a pie with them.
It was Divine!

He started with a store bought refrigerated pie crust and then used this recipe here:

1/2 cup sugar
3 tbs flour
5 cups fresh blackberries

In a large mixing bowl stir together sugar and flour. Add blackberries. Gently toss till coated.
Transfer berry mixture to pastry-lined pie plate.
Add top layer of crust, cut slits
Bake in a 375 oven for 25 min.
cool on wire rack

I Love Pie!
Thanks for reading.
Be back soon!
